The perfect click-bait and some of the most celebrated fictional role models to have emerged in the past decade.
They exude not only beauty and grace, but compassion, intelligence, and strength in all of its many forms. And while it may be hard to believe, it’s been almost three years since Disney released a princess-centered film, the last being – you guessed it – Frozen. Although I’m hard-pressed to say that Moana will be able to top its predecessor, the first trailer is chockful of worldbuilding and definitely looks promising.
On January 25th, the first in-depth trailer for DC’s much anticipated Justice League vs. Teen Titans film was released. Like many fans, I was thrilled to see the beloved lineup of Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans accompanied by newcomers Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) and Robin (Damian Wayne). But above all, I’m eager to see the dynamic duo of Raven and Starfire return to the screen after their ten-year hiatus following the series’ finale.*
On December 15, Warner Bros. Pictures released the first full trailer for the upcoming movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The screenplay of this spin-off from the Harry Potter series was written by J.K. Rowling, so we knew it was going to be good, but other than that we didn’t know what to expect. This trailer gives some new insights, but still not much. Continue reading Breaking News: Fantastic Beasts Trailer Has Dropped!→
The promo trailer for Agent Carter Season two is out, along with a slew of other information, including some about plot and casting. We here at DG couldn’t be more excited! In the new season, Peggy will be heading out to Hollywood, where she will face new challenges, a new love interest, and continue to kick some major butt.
It was only a few short months ago that we saw the release of Disney/Pixar’s first official look at The Good Dinosaur, the delayed project that explores what would happen if the famous crash that killed the dinosaurs never happened. Now, with the first full trailer being released, we begin to see what the plot of this new Dino-adventure might actually be about.
Earlier this year, X-Philes everywhere rejoiced when Fox confirmed that The X-Files was going to return to the airwaves with six brand spanking new episodes of the beloved sci-fi drama. With both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny (the main characters, FBI Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, respectively) and series creator Chris Carter on board, fans are eagerly anticipating being treated to some new, other-worldy adventures!
Here’s some more Pitch for ya. Behold the newest trailer for Pitch Perfect 2, a sequel that seems to be holding nothing back – including the fierceness of the entire cast. Granted, I still have yet to see the first installment in this franchise, but the more I see trailers for the continuing story of The Barden Bellas, I get generally excited.
It’s Friday which means it’s time to plan for movies – whether they be this weekend’s new release selection, some future flicks, or ones that are way, way far away from your local cinema. Here are four trailers that are totally worth taking a look at!
Kingsman: The Secret Service
This time around, we’re gonna take at look not one, but two new Colin Firth movies. Be still my beating heart of British awesomeness, because both movies in this little post look awesome. Let’s take a look at Kingsman first. Right off the bat you have the dapper Firth stretching his action muscles (literally!) something we’ve never really seen of the guy well, ever. Also, look at all the cool little touches of prep style with the badass flare. Does this look amazing or what? I’m preparing my pot of tea and action crumpets as we speak. My family is full of Broadway musical buffs, including some that work in the industry. One of those important theatrical relics is Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Much of my family was involved in the production of this show, and thus many of us saw it. So with the announcement of the movie adaptation (Directed by Clint Eastwood), we all have been waiting with baited breath for the trailer’s release. Now it is here and all I can say is… it looks okay?
I suppose my reaction comes from my various viewings of this masterpiece jukebox musical, for which I think is the only one of it’s genre to ever get anything right. The cinematography looks as if it was dipped in an Instagram filter, and it seems many of the lines are word for word lifted from it’s source material. Not that any of these are real problems exactly, but more that they just seem like the easy choices for a show that deserves much more attention to detail cinematically.
I hope the movie is a success, but will it live up to it’s legacy of the musical and Frankie, Bob, Tommy and Nick’s real life? We’ll have to wait and see.
Jersey Boys will “Walk Like A Man” into theaters, June 20th.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is finally seeing the light of day. The sequel to the 2005 movie Sin City has been in the works for seven years. The sequel features some familiar faces from the first and some new characters. Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Jaime King, and Mickey Rourke return as Gail, Hartigan, Nancy, Goldie and Wendy, and Marv respectively. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta, and Lady Gaga are some of the newest members of this ensemble cast.
Like it’s predecessor, A Dame to Kill For follows four of the story arcs in the Sin City graphic novel series. This movie will follow A Dame to Kill For, Just Another Saturday Night, The Long, Bad Night, and one other story arc that has not had the title released. Three of the stories featured in the sequel are prequels to the arcs The Hard Goodbye, That Yellow Bastard, and The Big Fat Kill from the first movie.
I’m really excited about this movie. I am a huge fan of the first one and I’ve been paying very close attention to news concerning this and the third movie. Seven years is a very long time and it looks like it will be well worth the wait. My favorite characters are back and I cannot wait to see the new characters in action. The talent backing this film is tops. Robert Rodriguez is a great director, Frank Miller (who wrote the actual graphic novels) is writing the screenplay and directing, and the acting talent is amazing. In essence, I’m pretty excited.
Are you ready to take a trip into the city of Sin? Sin City: A Dame to Kill For drives into theaters August 22nd, 2014.
