Best Board Games for Board Game Night

What better time of year to start planning some indoor events than when it starts to get cold? Don’t get me wrong, I live for the outdoors (Nick Offerman and I are on the same level), but when it comes to rainy, snowy days, it is great to have some indoor plans with friends that do not require spending money at the mall, or boredom. My best suggestion is a monthly board game night!

Around this time of year, my friends and I try to put together a monthly board game night. Because of the frequency, we have to invest a bit in getting board games that are enjoyable and fun! We may break off into groups or play one big game. Here is the group’s tested and approved favorites for when you schedule your board game parties. Bonus! I also included some extra tips for the indoor warrior who tries to keep these events cost effective!

Pokèmon Go! is getting a lot of flak from those who do not understand, or those who see things online. “Pokémon Go” Review: A Suburbia Player Rising to the Challenge

Pokémon Go is a lot of fun but is tough for suburban towns and communities. It can be tough for a lot of people outside of the city to keep up and catch as many pokémon because it is based on cell phone data. The density of cell phone data in an area means more pokémon, pokestops, and gyms.

Gaming Etiquette 101

Everyone has their “thing” about what other gamers do that annoys them, just like how most gamers probably do something that might annoy others. I’ll admit to being a headset eater. Here are a few things to help anyone out who is trying to kill the gamer stereotype about being a jerk, and who just wants to be courteous. Continue reading Gaming Etiquette 101

Gaming and Life Improvement

Gaming is very often the focus of articles around anti-social teenagers, violence, and general struggles of the gaming population. The elephant in the room is that there are so many pros to being a gamer and being a part of a gaming community. It is extremely hard to hear about my friends’ families not being supportive or understanding of their hobbies, or finding out that my friends are being accused of generalized anti-social behaviors, awkwardness, etc. Gaming is the new rock music of our time and the hard thing for people to understand is that every new thing is the bad habit-forming, bad reputation thing. Let’s reflect on television, rock and roll, arcade games, being on the phone too much, instant messenger…the list goes on. You have heard of these things being bad for you and causing bad habits, but like anything else it is all about balance. Here are some pros of being a part of the gaming community, as a whole. Convention Etiquette from a Con-Goer

Each year I try to go to at least one convention. While I’d like to go to more, some have proven to be more hassle than they are worth. One thing that always seems to be an issue and a big complaint amongst other convention-goers is the etiquette that we see from our fellows.

Here’s my top tips to be a mindful and polite con-goer. Continue reading Convention Etiquette from a Con-Goer
