After the fun of 2015’s convention, Daily Geekette just had to scope out this year’s TempleCon. A switch from February to August was only one of several noticeable changes at this year’s event. The con expanded, not just further into the Crowne Plaza Hotel, but outside as well! Vendors were now available in two locations: The Clockwork Bazaar, composed of folks cleverly advertising wares from hotel rooms, and The Garden Pavilion, a large outdoor tent with dealers at individual booths. My favorite, of course, was Leanna Renee Hieber’s table. Hieber is a talented author and actress (among many other things), whose name you may recognize from a guest post right here at DG.

How many of us have been pining for the day we could fill the Firefly-shaped holes in our hearts with some new space show? Two of Syfy channel’s newest acquisitions seem to be on track to do just that, provided they don’t crash and burn as the first seasons progress. These two shows, Killjoys and Dark Matter, air on Friday nights after Defiance, and in my opinion, they are definitely worth checking out.
We all have our lists of shows we wish had lasted longer. Sometimes they’re shows that were cancelled before all the episodes even aired, and sometimes they’re shows that ran for three magical seasons and were just hitting their stride when the cut happened. For this list I’ve specifically picked shows that were cancelled after one season, that I wish could have gone on longer. Come, share in my sadness!
In celebration of Halloween, this month’s Gal-lery is going to spotlight The Daily Geekette’s very own staff– I’m going to delve into their costume past and find out what sort of fancifully-garbed outlooks they have for future costumed endeavors!
Though the biggest gaming news from SDCC may have been the announcement of The Last of Us movie (possibly starring Arya Stark, no less – I can only imagine the crossover fiction), there were enough exciting tidbits to keep our tanks – running low after the smorgasbord that was E3 – running. i09 just announced that the Firefly video game will have the whole crew back to do voice work. If you’re a Browncoat like me, there couldn’t be much better news (except maybe season 2…).
