Welcome back, TV lovers! These weeks on TV…Agents of SHIELD gave us the origins of Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider, before leaving us with a cliff-hanger for the next several weeks. Meanwhile, Once Upon a Time‘s upping the family drama. The Evil Queen tries to drive a pirate-shaped wedge between the Charmings in “Dark Waters”, while “Heartless” features her aligning with Gold to get some overdue vengeance on Snow White.
After the Underworld arc wrapped up last week, it was a little unclear where Once Upon a Time was going to take its last two episodes. We got a lot of callbacks to seasons One and Two, but mostly everything is a set-up for season Six. It really shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone paying attention over the past five years, but hey, sometimes the writers don’t even pay attention to what they’ve produced, so it gets hard to keep up.
Basically, we’re officially expanding beyond fairy-tales. And expect double the amount of Lana Parrilla next season.
Previously, on Once Upon a Time: Regina’s wicked half-sister Zelena announced that she’s pregnant by Robin Hood after masquerading as Maid Marian for months. Isaac the Author teamed up with Rumplestiltskin to write a new story before the latter’s heart turns completely black. Emma’s friend Lily turned out to be Maleficent’s long-lost daughter (also a dragon). And Will Scarlet, my beloved Knave from Wonderland, gets no screen time except when he’s a plot device.
So yeah, it’s been a pretty wacky season, and that’s not even considering the Frozen arc. While last year’s finale dealt with time travel, this year’s was alternate reality. Isaac wrote a new story that would give him his OWN happy ending, breaking the cardinal rule of being an Author. With everyone from Storybrooke having disappeared into Isaac’s best-selling book, Henry tracks down the rogue author to get his family back.
