For weeks, Pokémon fans have been chomping at the bit to download Pokémon Go, an augmented reality game, where trainers can catch Pokémon in the real world on Apple and Android products. Nintendo gave a release date of “July.” Trainers, today is the day. Pokémon Go has so far been released in Australia and New Zealand, with a rumored release for the UK tomorrow. The United States is still waiting on a release date.
Current game players have noted a significant battery drain from Pokémon Go. That seems to be the only criticism of the game so far, positive or negative.
There are still many questions to be answered, such as “How much data will this eat?” and “Will the game be worth playing for free, or will users pretty much need to spend money?”
Daily Geekette is waiting just as impatiently as you are to start playing, and will be updating you with information as soon as it becomes available!
Update: The game has been released in the U.S.! Happy playing Americans!
