It’s just been announced that Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter will be joining the cast of Supergirl for Season 2. She will be playing the President of the United States. This is the latest in a trend of DC character actors returning for new roles in adaptations. For example, Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) appeared in season one flashbacks as Kara’s adoptive father.
Carter as the President indicates Supergirl is staying true to itself despite a network change. Supergirl‘s first season on CBS made itself known for creating amazing roles of powerful women in its universe. It’s good to know that isn’t changing as the show moves to the CW.
Coinciding with the CW move, the show is really delving into the DC universe. Although they were shown to communicate periodically, Kara’s super-cousin was pointedly off-screen in the first season. But the Man of Steel will finally be providing more direct support to Supergirl next season. Just last week it was announced that Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf, Seventh Heaven), will be playing the role of Superman/ Clark Kent in the first two episodes.
After these two announcements, I cannot wait to see the next characters and the next actors to join this amazing show! What are your hopes for Supergirl season two?
