These people from Jaws are running to enjoy the last moments of summer!

Before you get too excited for Fall and Halloween and pumpkin flavored lattes, muffins, and EVERYTHING – why not enjoy the last remnants of summer while you still can? Here is a list of some of my favorite summer films that will always take me back to beaches, summer camps, barbecues, and late night bonfires.

So, put on your sunscreen and get out your flip flops and enjoy these summery films!

Wet Hot American Summer (2001)

So you’ve seen the new Netflix reboot series, but be sure to catch the original! A crazy romp featuring some of the most amazing comedians of our time. Through young love, camp shows, time at the lake, a wild time in town that involves drugs and prostitution, this movie will bring you back to your time at summer camp.

Adventureland (2009)

Then you can feel some summer nostalgia by watching Adventureland. Relive your summers dealing with weird bosses, terrible patrons, and attractive coworkers with this movie. This film also features Bill Hader with nice, thick mustache so that is a plus.

Also, this movie was filmed in Pittsburgh’s own real-life theme park, Kennywood – nostalgia abounds for those who have experienced it!

Heavy Weights (1995)

Another camp movie! But this time, it’s a camp for chubby kids who want to lose some weight. Unfortunately for them, Ben Stiller plays a crazed camp warden and ruins their summer fun. Watch this film and enjoy as these boys reclaim their summer and their bodies in this hilarious 90s camp-y adventure!

Teen Beach Movie (2013)

image_e960860bI know what you’re thinking, but you’ve got to trust me! Teen Beach Movie is basically a feminist version of Grease and every old 70s beach movie all combined into one. With some catchy songs and impressive dance numbers, this movie will have you bopping in your seat and dreaming of toes in the sand. A Disney film made for kids (and adults!) that flips the message of Sandy’s need to change for a man on its head.

Watch it. Just do it.

The Parent Trap (1998) Parent-trap-disneyscreencaps.com-1237Okay, one last summer camp movie! But I’ve got to say this is the most important – The Parent Trap. I’m going to stick with the 1998 remake, because it marks my favorite Lindsay Lohan movie. This movie is a summer classic that will make you wish you had found a long lost twin and that you shared an awesome secret handshake with your butler.

It Follows (2015)

One of my favorite movies of this year, It Follows is the only horror film that i have wanted to watch again. It’s a summer film about love and friendship! Well, love that causes an evil creature to follow you until it kills you and the only way to make it go away is to sleep with someone else – that kind of love! A stellar film, full of beautiful cinematography and an eerily perfect soundtrack. The ensemble cast is so solid, they’ll make you wish you were stuck in a horror film with them. This movie is seriously one of the greats, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out!

So that’s it for some of my favorite summer films!  They’re are all so good, you can watch them any time of the year, but why would you wait? Get out there and watch these before summer is all gone. Enjoy!

What do you think? Do you like these movies? What are your favorite summer films?  Let me know!
