Beloved and award-winning British writer Tanith Lee, whose literary talent graced numerous genres from science fiction to fantasy and horror, passed-away on Sunday, May 24th. Lee was 67 years old.
According to the publisher Tor’s website: ‘Lee had a long and prolific writing career, publishing over 90 books and 300 short stories, as well as several poems, four BBC Radio plays, and two episodes of the BBC’s sci-fi television series Blake’s 7.’ Her short stories were frequently published alongside other literary magnificoes such as Mercedes Lackey, Joyce Carol Oates and Neil Gaiman, and she also wrote numerous books series, including the popular Flat Earth series. In January of 2015, she was awarded the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Horror Writers Association.
She definitely had fans amongst us here at Daily Geekette, and her voice in the world of the written word will be greatly missed!
