SO, GEEKETTES–HAVE YOU WATCHED IT!? HAVE YOU!? Well, guessing by the fact you are reading this post, I’m gonna assume you haven’t. But, yes, if you couldn’t gather, Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser #2 has been released, and let me tell you that it is one of the best teasers I’ve ever seen. Watching the live stream that led up to this majestic, glorious piece of editing was everything this Star Wars nerd like me could have wished for and more. So, watch the trailer below, and let’s dive into the new adventures of a galaxy far, far away…..
Now that you’ve watched the most amazing advertisement ever, here are some thoughts and images, in a breakdown of sorts:
The teaser opens with many haunting images. A vehicle drives past a familiar ship, abandoned and destroyed. Clearly, this is a sign of times changing since our last film. Could this mean we’re in for a Star Wars we’re not used to? This will not be familiar territory? Or that the system that had been built in the past since Jedi has been completely taken over? So many questions, so little answers.
Probably the most haunting image was Darth Vadar’s helmet destroyed. Yet another hint of the times changing both within the film’s universe and within the cinematic creation of this franchise itself. Could this have been discovered by Luke?
We get our first full action shot of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) running from what looks like some sort of ship explosion. New droid BB8 (one of my new favorite additions) is coming in close behind them. Could this be a Stormtrooper-related battle? Considering the TIE fighter in the background, it is definitely possible.
Here we get another amazing image, showing off new character, Kylo Ren. Who plays this mysterious masked baddie? My guess is this is either Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, or possibly one of the female cast members. Time will tell. All I know is, I’m loving the tradition of the eastern inspiration in the mask designs, hinting that this person might be a Skywalker relation.
We get to finally see the new Stormtrooper uniforms, which still give tribute to the original designs, but with some new modern touches. There also appears to be a cloaked figure behind them, standing on stage. I’m gonna make a guess that this could be Gwendoline Christie, judging by the height and build of what can be made out from such a small image. But then again, she could very well be someone else….
Maybe she’s this amazingly cool Stormtrooper, shown to be decked out in chrome metal and a black cape with red lining. If there is anything I’ve ever wanted to cosplay from Star Wars, this would be number one on the list. Personally, while I’d love for this to be a girl underneath the suit, I have a feeling based on what was kind of leaked by Boyega at the panel earlier, he could very well be the person in this amazing new armor.
And then, of course, the best was saved for last. I will be honest that when this bit showed up, I cried. I legitimately had giant, fangirl tears streaming down my face. It might have been the most unprofessional reviewing moment of my life, but it was indeed true, honest feels. And they were beautiful. Yes, welcome home Han, we missed you.
With the beautiful John Williams score, additional teasing imagery, and the voice over work (EDIT: It is Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill) this was the teaser I had dreamed of. And if the actual film is anywhere near as good as this, then we could be in for the Star Wars sequel fans have really, truly, been waiting for.
