Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!
Whenever I host Magical Girl themed panels, I’m always asked “What about magical boys?” Though I credit Ben 10 and a few other shows to represent the genre, nothing has quiet filled the void like the new show Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! promises to. With a pink magical Wombat and alien invasions, this odd ball seems to fulfill all my Mahou Shounen dreams.
Plot: “This is the story of how five high school boys affiliated with the “Binan High School Earth Defense Club” aka the “Do Nothing Club” are charged by a weird pink wombat creature with protecting the world.” (Source)

Not exactly sure what makes me interested in this show, but something about girls riding different bicycles and motorcycles into battle along with the pastel color palette really grabbed my attention. Rolling☆Girls definitely seems like not your typical Winter Season fare, and possibility could be a big hit, if handled with care. I just hope this doesn’t fall into “Moe” territory, and instead reeks of girl power, as it should.
Plot: “Ten years after the Great Tokyo War, each prefecture in Japan has split up into independent nations. Each nation is ruled by a prophet called “Mosa” and an army called “Mob” as they start to compete to take over other countries. Four “Mob” girls from the Saitama clan, Nozomi, Yukina, Ai, and Chiaya, are ordered by their “Mosa” to travel around Japan riding their motorcycles to mediate multiple battles between nations and clans as they emerge.” (Source)

Without a doubt, Death Parade looks to be the most interesting show of the season. Taking a premise similar to that of The Box, fans of darker series like Death Note will probably take a liking to this. Much of the plot revolves around chance, and though the summary seems confusing, I’m sure it’s the kind of show that’ll explain itself as time goes on.
Plot: “”Welcome to Queen Dekim” What greets two unsuspecting guests is a strange bar, Queen Dekim, and the white-haired bartender, Dekim. “From here you two shall begin a battle where your lives hang in the balance,” he says to introduce the Death Game. Before long the guests’ true natures become apparent. As a matter of course, at the game’s end Dekim is revealed to be the “arbiter.” Dekim’s judgement on the two guests is…” (Source)
